According to this morning's Globe and Mail. Ontario's auto industry and cities can expect modest federal assistance in the new Federal budget.
Sources say the federal government will spend about 1 billion dollars on infrastructure and another 200 million dollars on the auto sector (despite a 400 million dollar request last year). The Ontario economy is primarily fueled by manufacturing but this is not the case for Toronto with it's large and diversified economy. Toronto's principal concern needs to be it's infrastructure which has been under funded for a number of years.
As people continue to stream back into the city, fuelling our local market, all levels of government should be expected to make sufficient funding available for roads, schools, water mains and public transportation. This, ultimately, will provide the environment for sustained growth which will protect and nurture, among other things, property value.
